A former Walker County man has been sentenced to state prison for child molestation.

Mark Lamar Sharp was sentenced June 21 and is being held at the Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison in Jackson County, according to the Monroe city police in Walton County. Sharp’s earliest release date is October 2035.

Sharp, who used to live in Walker County, was initially charged with aggravated child molestation and aggra-vated sodomy for an incident that occurred in Walton County in October. He was arrested Nov. 9.
