Kathrine Elizabeth Sloan and Michael Dean Miller II announce their engagement.

The future bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Curtis N. Sloan of Ringgold. She is the sister of Phillip G. Sloan of Ringgold and Courtney S. Sloan of Ringgold. Her grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. T. Burton Gaston of Fort Oglethorpe and Mr. and Mrs. Henry G. Sloan of Varnell.

The future groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Dean Miller of Cohutta. He is the brother of Adam C. Miller of Cohutta. His grandparents are Lt. Col. and Mrs. A. C. Miller III of Warner Robbins, Ga. and Mrs. Betty Dowdy and the late Earnest H. Dowdy of Jackson, Ga.

Sloan is a Ringgold High School class of 2003 graduate. She received an associates of science degree at Young Harris College in 2005, where she was named to the dean’s list, and Honor Council and was involved in student government. She received a bachelors of science in education at the University of Georgia in 2007, where she was named to the dean’s list and was a magna cum laude graduate. She received a master’s of education of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 2001. She works as an eighth grade math teacher at North Whitfield Middle School in Dalton. She is a member of Ringgold United Methodist Church.

Miller is 2009 graduate of Southern Polytechnic University. He received a degree in telecommunications engineering. He works as a broadcast engineer at CNN in Atlanta. He is a member of Rockbridge Community Church.

The wedding will be held June 25 at 5 p.m. at Ringgold United Methodist Church.
