Lauren Ann Welch and Jonathan Lee DeLay announce their engagement.

The bride-elect’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. George Thomas Welch Jr. of Lavonia. Her sister is Jessica Welch of Lavonia. Her granparents are Mr. and Mrs. Joe Rome of Thomasville and Sandra Welch and the late George Welch of Cartersville.

The bridegroom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Phil DeLay of Ringgold. His sister is Kristen DeLay of Athens. His grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Henry “Lefty” DeLay of Ringgold and Mr. Thomas Shelton and the late Ina Shelton of Graysville.

The bride-elect will graduate May 2011 from the University of Georgia with a degree in middle grades education.

The bridegroom graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in social science education in 2010. He is a teacher and coach at Franklin County High School in Carnesville.

The wedding will be May 28 at South Seminole Baptist Church in East Ridge, Tenn.
