The church was decorated with simple greenery. Magnolia leaves were placed around the wall sconces and peace lilies were placed on stands on either side of the bride and groom. Piano music was featured and performed by Michael Gilreath, the bride’s grandson, and the song “God Bless Our Love” was performed by the groom’s granddaughter. The vocalist was Karen Hawkins and pianist was Michael Gilreath.
The matron of honor was Sherry Gilreath of LaFayette, the bride’s daughter. The bride’s attendant was Pam Brewster of Ringgold, the daughter of the groom. The two attendants wore floor-length burgundy dresses with black bolero jackets and each carried a long stemmed rose with a touch of baby’s breath.
The best man was W.C. Carver of Flintstone and groomsman, Alan Brewster of Ringgold. They wore dark suits and white shirts with black ties.
The bride was given away by Fred and Shirley Gilreath, her daughter and son-in-law.
The bride wore a floor-length dress with a full skirt in a satin champagne color with a waist-length long-sleeved jacket that sparkled and shimmered with each step. She carried a long-stemmed white rose with baby’s breath and greenery.
The reception was held at Corinth Baptist Church Fellowship Hall in LaFayette. The hostesses were nieces of the bride. The decorations carried a theme of lovebirds in white and beige. White sheers were draped behind the cake tables and lovebirds rested in the nests of beige netting and magnolia leaves.
The bride’s cake was three rectangle layers of white cake decorated with beige trim was topped with lovebirds sitting on a pair of glass hearts.
The groom’s cake carried a NASCAR theme with several of the groom’s favorite “cars” around the “racetrack” on top of the chocolate on chocolate cake.
The granddaughters of the groom served the cake and the nieces of the bride served the refreshments.
The keeper of the bride’s book was Raleigh Lewis of LaFayette, great-granddaughter of the groom.
The couple spend a few days at the Inn at Christmas in Pigeon Forge, Tenn., and will reside in LaFayette.
