Health Foundation will host its annual Foundation Ball Nov. 13 at The Chattanoogan and will recognize Dr. T. Darrell Weldon and Olive G. Wright.

Olive Wright has been selected as the 2010 Lifetime Achievement honoree. The Lifetime Achievement honor recognizes an outstanding individual who has committed a lifetime of service and support to Hutcheson Medical Center.

Wright has served as a volunteer at Hutcheson Medical Center for over 30 years. During this time, she has worked in various capacities including serving as past-president, vice president, historian and parliamentarian for Hutcheson’s Auxiliary. She currently serves as the accounts payable coordinator for the Auxiliary and the Hutcheson Gift Shop.

Wright was married to the late Collins Wright for 62 years, and she lives in Chickamauga.

The Physician of the Year Award is selected by Hutcheson’s medical staff and recognizes a physician who is a role model professionally and personally, and provides compassionate and comprehensive care on a continuing basis. This year’s award recipient is Dr. T. Darrell Weldon.

Weldon, an obstetrician and gynecologist for over 26 years, has delivered more than 5,000 babies. He is a member of several medical societies and associations and currently serves as chairman of the board for the Hospital Authority of Catoosa, Dade and Walker counties.

He has been married to Connie Anderson Weldon for 42 years and lives in Ringgold.

“Both of these individuals deserve our highest recognition and praise. I am very pleased to have the opportunity to honor them,” said Charles L. Stewart, president and CEO of Hutcheson. “They are hard-working individuals, very giving, and are dedicated to the mission of Hutcheson Medical Center and their communities.”

Doris White, community leader and board member of Hutcheson Health Foundation, is serving as chairwoman for the event.

A reception will begin at 6:30 p.m., and the program will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets for the event are $150 each.
