COMMUNITY · Catoosa County Library’s summer reading program for all ages, “Dig Into Reading” is underway with daily activities and programs. Today, June 19, the Southern Jesters, an improv troupe of actors, will be featured during a program that begins at 11 a.m.. The library is located at the Benton Place Campus.
EDUCATION · Family Resource Agency of North Georgia would like to announce the opening of a new Head Start classroom to be located at Battlefield Elementary School. COMMUNITY · The UTC Music Department and Master Chorale will present the 2013 Master Chorale Summer Concert to benefit the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund tonight, June 20, at 7:30 p.m.
The concert will take place at Second Presbyterian Church, 700 Pine St., Chattanooga, and feature “The Requiem” by North Carolina native Steve Dobrogosz and a set of love songs. There is no admission fee to the performance but donations to benefit the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund will be accepted.

COMMUNITY · The Chickamauga Public Library will host “The Gateway City Falls” at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 20. This program, provided by the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park, is geared toward children ages 9 and up and is a sneak peak at their summer camp program.
COMMUNITY · The Friends of the Chickamauga Public Library will host a book signing event with Dr. John Derden at 2 p.m., Thursday, June 20. Dr. Derden will discuss his book “The World’s Largest Prison: the Story of Camp Lawton,” about the confederate military prison located on the site of Magnolia Springs State Park.
COMMUNITY · Yoga Instructor Tommy Southerland will be teaching an introductory course at the LaFayette-Walker County Public Library on Thursday, June 20. The teen course will begin at 5 p.m. and the adult course will begin at 6 p.m. Some yoga mats will be provided, but please bring your own if you have one.

For either first-time or veteran parents, this class includes topics such as physiology of breastfeeding, advantages of breastfeeding, techniques for successful breastfeeding, common pitfalls and challenges, returning to work and pumping. Mothers are strongly encouraged to bring a support person, but it is not required. This class is free with any Labor of Love Lamaze class. COMMUNITY · Woodstation Baptist Church begins its VBS tonight, June 20, that will share the story of Paul’s dangerous journey through Athens. VBS is from 6:30-8:30 p.m. tonight and tomorrow, Friday, June 21. Saturday, the final day, will be held from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. All activities will take place at the church which is located at the intersection of Ga. Highway 95 and Round Pond Road.

COMMUNITY · “See How They Run,” a play by Philip King about spies, vicars and mis-taken will be presented by Back Alley Productions at the Walker Civic Center tonight and tomorrow. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and students, with curtain at 7:30 p.m. The Civic Center is located at 10052 N. U.S. Highway 27 in Rock Spring.
CHURCH · Lyerly United Methodist Church invites all children to step right up at “Every-where Fun Fair: Where God’s World Comes Together” Church. The fun begins June 22 with a VBS Kick-Off Party from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, June 22. Pre-register for VBS. Participants will read to either or both Reading Dogs and make a dog-themed craft. This program occurs monthly.

This course includes instruction on what to do in the event that your infant or child stops breathing or begins to choke. Injury prevention is discussed. A man and woman were arrested a couple of hours apart on shoplifting charges in Fort Oglethorpe following separate theft attempts at the Wal-Mart on Battlefield Parkway, police say. According to the Fort Oglethorpe Police Department: Samantha Jean Lawrence, 22, of Roundtree Drive in Fort Oglethorpe and Dusty Butch Hale, 37, of Snow Hill Road in Ooltewah, Tenn., were arrested Friday, June 14, for shoplifting. Both have been released from jail on bond. The first incident, involving Lawrence, occurred just after 1 p.m., in which police say she was detained by store employees after she was observed attempting to steal nearly $85 worth of clothing and cosmetics. A little less than three hours later, police arrested Hale for attempting to steal $45 worth of bed sheets. All the merchandise was returned to the store, and both offenders were taken to Catoosa County jail without incident.
