GLMS boys down Heritage, Lady Trojans fall

The Gordon Lee Middle School Trojans clinched at least a tie for the NGAC regular season championship after a 43-34 win over Heritage on Tuesday.

Gordon Lee (16-1, 15-1) led 14-4 after the first quarter, only to see the Generals slice the gap down to four to begin the fourth quarter. However, the Trojans outscored Heritage 14-9 in the final period to secure the win.

Gavin Roberson had 24 points in the victory, while Chaney Rogers added eight.

Seth Carter had six points for the Generals.

The Lady Trojans were outscored 11-4 in the fourth quarter and fell to the Lady Generals, 42-38.

Heritage scored the first seven points of the fourth quarter to take a 38-34 lead. Gordon Lee (14-3, 12-3) cut the gap to two on two different occasions, but Heritage would hit their free throws late, including two in the final 30 seconds to seal the win.

Tori Harvey had 10 points for Heritage, while Nikol Taylor and Rachel Thomas added nine each.

Sarah Meadows led all scorers with 13 for Gordon Lee.

With the win, Heritage took another step to being the No. 1 seed for the NGAC tournament, while Gordon Lee currently sits in the No. 3 spot behind Ringgold.

Heritage will host Rossville today and Gordon Lee will host Rossville on Thursday.
