According to the Fort Oglethorpe Police Department:
Brycon William Hunter, 18, of Oak View Drive in Chattanooga, Tenn., was arrested on Jan. 26 on charges of DUI-drugs, failure to obey a traffic control device, and possession of marijuana less than one-ounce. His bond was set at $5,831.50.
The incident occurred just after midnight when officers observed Hunter’s Dodge Calibur truck slide through a red light at Forrest Road along U.S. 27, reports show.
Police then began attempting to catch up to Hunter who entered the K-Mart Parking lot on Battlefield Parkway, then drove behind the building.
“Upon approaching Mr. Hunter, I could smell the slight odor of marijuana,” officer Robert Goolsby said. “I asked Mr. Hunter why he pulled behind the business and he advised me that he was trying to get away from me, and that every time he gets stopped by the police it never ends well.”
Hunter admitted to Goolsby and to officer Michael Fergerson that he had previous drug possession charges, reports show.
Officers then asked for and were granted permission to search Hunter’s truck, at which time then noticed something a little uneven about his pants.
“While speaking with Mr. Hunter, officer Fergerson advised me of a large bulge in the crotch of Mr. Hunter’s pants,” Goolsby said. “I then had Mr. Hunter exit the vehicle.”
Hunter was then patted down and checked for weapons, at which time a green can containing marijuana fell out of the bottom of Hunter’s pants, reports show.
“Mr. Hunter also had three marijuana pipes hidden in the waistband of his pants,” Goolsby said. “He then admitted to smoking marijuana within the past two to three hours,”
Hunter was taken to Erlanger at Hutcheson for blood testing before being transported to Catoosa County jail without incident.
“The green tin can and the marijuana were taken into evidence, while the three marijuana pipes were destroyed and disposed of,” Goolsby said.
