An alert homeowner helped Wednesday in the arrest of two 19-year-olds who, police believe, broke into vehicles and burglarized a school system building in Chickamauga.

According to Chickamauga Police Department reports:

Zackery Lee Blackmon of Pearl Street and Johnathan Tyler Webb of East 14th Street, both of Chickamauga, were arrested after being seen trespassing by a Gordon Street resident.

The homeowner detained the two teens until police arrived on the scene, according to police chief Michael Haney. The homeowner discovered them about 4:30 a.m. between two of his outbuildings,

The teens were arrested for loitering and prowling. Officers discovered that both had automatic handguns. Both face a felony for possession of a firearm while committing a crime.

Webb faces an additional charge of possession of a Schedule III substance as he had a bottle of cypionate (testosterone drug) in his pocket.

After the arrest, police received three calls of vehicle break-ins and a burglary from the Gordon Lee Memorial High School campus.

“Some of the things in their possession have turned up missing from the school, that were reported this morning,” Haney said. The items belong to faculty members. No specific details or values were given.

Law enforcement from the city’s police department and the Georgia Bureau of Investigations were on the scene at GLMHS Wednesday morning collecting evidence.

The two arrested may have additional charges pending in connection with a burglary committed at the Gordon Lee Memorial High School and several entering autos around the city that have been reported as of this morning.
