Joshua Samuel Simpson of Rossville received a life sentence for felony murder and 20 years for aggravated assault, both to run concurrent, for the murder of Michael Warren Wyscaver.

The jury began deliberations Thursday afternoon and ended Friday around noon.

His trial began Monday morning in Walker County Superior Court in downtown LaFayette.

The teen was accused of beating to death 47-year-old Wyscaver of Rossville. Authorities believe Simpson killed Wyscaver sometime around Aug. 15, 2008, after they got into an argument.

Wyscaver’s body was discovered about two weeks later in an abandoned house on West Pine Street, which is near the victim’s residence. He had died of blows to the head.

Simpson faced four possible charges that the jury could have convicted him on — malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, and voluntary manslaughter.

I agree with that parent about her son, but it goes to show you that the justice system thinks of themselves and people need to pay for the crime they commit, but I am part of the family of Charles Cochran that was supposed to have hung himself in the walker county jail and died, but I can tell you we are certain that he didn't do it and that he was murdered down there and there are alot of people starting to open up and speak out now about that night down there. I think it was an authoritive power kill so why don't they get to the bottom of what happened to Charles Cochran and make that employee pay just like they are doing Josh Simpson. I really hope they find out the truth about what happened to Charles so we can then see how lenient they are on their own kind. I just hope that if anyone knows anything about the Charles Cochran case they come forward and don't be a coward because this guy was taken from his 3 young children, and there is alot of stuff that sounds fishy about that night and i hope and pray that josh simpson's family can appeal this and get a lesser sentence.

THE STORY HERE THAT IS PRINTED IS NOT ALL TRUE & IF THE REPORTERS WERE THERE THROUGH THE WHOLE THING THEY TO WOULD KNOW ALSO... SO THE TRUTH IS, THEY FAILED TO LET EVERYONE KNOW HOW THIS ALL CAME ABOUT... I SEND MY CONDOLENCES TO MR. WYSCAVERS FAMILY I AM JOSHUAS' MOM & I COULD IMAGINE WHAT YOU MUST BE GOING THROUGH. I WOULD JUST LIKE TO SAY THAT I KNOW MY SON DID NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO & THE REASON FOR NOT CALLING THE POLICE AFTER HE LEFT IS BECAUSE HE WAS SCARED & UNAWARE THAT HE WAS DECEASED, I SWEAR TO YOU JOSHUA DID NOT KNOW! JOSHUA RECIEVED A LIFE SENTENCE & I'M NOT ASKING FOR HIM TO BE SET FREE BUT A LIFE SENTENCE DO CHILDREN NOT DESERVE A SECOND CHANCE, PEOPLE LEARN FROM MISTAKES & HE HAS BELIEVE YOU ME, HE ALSO LOST A 6 MTH OLD DAUGHTER 2 MONTHS AFTER ARREST & HAS NEVER SEEN HER GRAVE, HE WOULD LOVE TO FINISH HIS GED CLASSES WHICH HE WAS ATTENDING AT THE TIME THIS HAPPENED & A CHANCE TO SHOW THAT HE IS NOT THE PERSON THESE PEOPLE MAY PUT HIM OUT TO BE....

I LOVE MY SON & I ONLY WISH NONE OF THIS EVER HAPPENED TO EITHER FAMILY....
