The Rossville Middle School Lady Bulldogs collected their first win of the softball season with a 2-1 win over Valley Point in Whitfield County on Monday.

Valley Point took a 1-0 lead in the third inning and held it until the top of the sixth when Rossville's bats came to life.

Madison Simmons started the inning off with a walk and promptly stole second before scoring after Courtney Mooneyham reached base on a Valley Point error. Mooneyham would later come home on a sacrifice fly to right field off the bat of Domonique Stubbs, giving Rossville the lead for good.

Autumn Perry got the win in the circle, walking four and striking out nine. Makenzie Howard was 2-for-4, while Simmons and Mooneyham each had singles. Lauren Salmon was 1-for-2 off the bench with a single.

The Lady Bulldogs (1-3) will play at Lakeview on Thursday at 5 p.m., followed by a game at New Hope on Friday at 5 p.m.
