According to the Fort Oglethorpe Police Department:
Casey Jay Williams, 29, of Hillandale Drive in Rossville was arrested on Saturday, Sept. 15, and charged with DUI, operating a motorcycle with no helmet, and operating a motorcycle with the wrong class of license. He has been released from jail on bond.
“I was able to verify that Mr. Williams had not crashed, but had simply stopped, and then fell over with his motorcycle,” officer William Palmer said.
The incident occurred along Battlefield Parkway after the manager of Logan's Roadhouse called police regarding an intoxicated customer who had just left the restaurant on a motorcycle.
“I was able to locate the driver and motorcycle at the corner of Battlefield Parkway and Dietz Road,” Palmer said. “It initially appeared that the driver had crashed, but I got out with Mr. Williams and checked him for injuries.” Williams turned out to be unharmed.
“During my investigation with Mr. Williams, I could smell a very strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming from his breath,” Palmer said. “I observed Mr. Williams having extreme difficulty in keeping his balance and slurred speech.”
Williams refused to take any field sobriety tests, reports show.
“When I attempted to test Mr. Williams, he stated that would not take any tests and that he was drunk,” Palmer said.
