The mother of a 15-year-old Heritage High School student was arrested Thursday night for making false claims against an assistant principal, whom she accused of assaulting her son in early February.

According to the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office:

Davida Kaye Caylor, of 184 Rolling Hills Drive in Ringgold, was arrested about 6 p.m. Thursday on two counts of tampering with evidence, false statements within jurisdiction of the state, and obstruction or hindering law enforcement officers.

The arrest comes three weeks after Caylor accused Heritage High School assistant principal and head baseball coach Eric Beagles of slamming her son, Aaron Black’s, hand on a desk and causing a severe bruise.

“Investigators with the Sheriff’s Office conducted a thorough investigation and obtained numerous interviews and pieces of evidence, including evidence provided by Ms. Caylor,” said sheriff Gary Sisk in a statement Friday afternoon. “The evidence was sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s (GBI) Medical Examiner’s Office.”

Beagles was not placed on any type of leave during the investigation.

“The student was unhappy with the punishment for his behavior,” Marissa Brower, communications specialist for Catoosa County Public Schools, said last week. “He stood, reached across the assistant principal’s desk, and grabbed the telephone receiver. When the assistant principal attempted to hang up the phone, the student reported that he was injured.”

Following the incident, the student and Beagles gave different accounts. Black alleged Beagles grabbed his hand and slammed it on the desk. Beagles said Black’s hand was under the telephone receiver when he went to hang it up.

“Based on the findings of the investigation conducted by the Sheriff’s Office and the opinion of the Medical Examiner’s Office, the case was determined to be unfounded,” Sisk said.

After reviewing the GBI’s case, assistant District Attorney Alan Norton agreed with the findings and advised that criminal charges should be brought against Caylor.

While attempting to serve Caylor with the warrants Thursday evening, Sisk said she refused to cooperate with deputies, which lead to additional charges and her subsequent arrest.

Caylor is being held at the Catoosa County jail with a bond set at $5,000 for the obstruction charge, but is still awaiting a first appearance hearing before a magistrate on the other three charges.

"My son had coach Beagles at Ringgold High School and he is a good man".

Amen Plus Ten! Two of my kids had him at RHS and I don't know if I have ever shared the company of a finer man. (Darn good coach, too!)

Nooooo! Say it ain't so!

Who couldn't tell they were lying. That was so obviously not a bruise from a phone being slammed on someone's hand. Now we know where he gets his behavior from.

The students all knew he was lying. I guess after they interviewed enough of them somebody was caught in their web of lies. I hope the school system and Mr. Beagles both sue her and her son for defamation of character and false accusations.

I am glad that the truth finally came out before it destroyed Mr. Beagles life anymore. My son had coach Beagles at Ringgold High School and he is a good man. Ms. Caylor needs to be sent to prison for lying and trying to destroy someone life. It's going to get where no one is going to want to teach anymore for people like this.
