Catoosa County Sheriff Phil Summer today said “there is no new information” he can give to the public on the case of a local business man who was shot in the face in Rossville Friday morning, Nov. 13.

Summers said the victim, Connelly Dean Cofer, who operates a vending service, remains today in critical condition at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga.

The sheriff said law enforcement is “exploring all leads” in the case. He declined to comment on rumors that the shooting was “an inside job” or that robbery was a motive.

According to Summers:

The shooting occurred at the intersection of Oak Street and Carline Road about 7 a.m. Of-ficers arrived at the location and found Cofer, who lives at 7131 Mountain View Road in Ooltewah, Tenn., suffering from a gunshot wound to the face.

Cofer operates a vending service and travels to business locations catering food and drink items to workers.

Investigators with the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the case, along with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
