Mount Pisgah Road in Ringgold is still closed from damage due to the flood, and sheriff Phil Summers says it will remain closed for another month.

The damage to the road is too big of a project for Catoosa County’s road department to tackle, so the county is contracting the work to a private construction company.

The reconstruction process should take around 30 days, he said.

Engineering plans have already been drawn up, Summers said, because the road was in need of repairs before the flood.

The project is already up for bidding and will show up on the next county commissioners meeting on Oct. 6.

At the meeting, the commissioners plan to approve a contract, and construction will be-gin immediately, the sheriff said.

He said the commissioners hope that Federal Emergency Management Agency will pay for the damages.

Mount Pisgah Road is the only road in the county still closed from flood damages. It was washed out by the flood waters.

FreedomWatcher,

Mt. Pisgah is now open. That is something. Yes, it's not much considering all the time they had to work on it. It should have been completed before the end of the year.

Over 4 months and still very little to show for. What a shame, this is not a back road. Mount Pisgah DID serve as much if not more than some state roadways in the county. Has anyone else wondered why the news media has not been more involved? Why has the construction crew been waiting for such a long period? Who is responsible for overseeing this project? Is there a public record of the actions taken and the date they were taken and by whom?

I heard that it would be closed until January. This sure is putting more of a burden on getting to work. There should be a more accessible road cut through from Davis Ridge over to Alabama Highway.
