Mentone Area Arts Council Tour of Artist Studios to be held Oct. 30-31
The annual Mentone Area Arts Council Tour of Artist Studios and Homes and Auction will take place Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 in Mentone, Ala., atop Lookout Mountain.
About eight studios and homes will be open to visitors and will host area artists and craftsmen displaying their works. Many artists from Walker and Catoosa counties will be present, and their displays will include sasket-making, bronze sculpture, pottery, hand crafted furniture, painting, iron forging, iron silhouette furnishings, jewelry, mosaics and stained glass.
In addition and new this year is a Silent Auction of special works donated by artists and patrons of MAAC. Items up for bid are samples of the arts and crafts of the participating artists as well as a weekend at a Mentone cabin, a canoe trip down the Little River, a morning deer hunt, a four-course gourmet dinner for four and an hour-long massage by a licensed therapist.
The event is free to the public, but registration at the Fire Station in Mentone is required. The festival hours will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 31 and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 1. For more information, contact Harriet and Steve O’Rear by calling 706-398-0858 or visiting harriet@ironagecrafters.com.
