Dear editor,

I am very concerned about the upcoming election. I’m praying each day that all Americans will stop and think seriously about their decisions. After last night (Oct. 17) listening to President Obama playing “Ring around the Questions,” he just would not answer the questions directly. Not only in the national election, we have several races that are so important.

I would like for you to vote for John Defenbaugh for state representative for District 1. He has a very broad perspective on what is needed for both Dade and Walker counties. He is a Christian, and I feel that he will do the very best that he can. He will certainly try.

Now, our commissioner needs our support. We know what Bebe has done, and I feel like she has run the county as she would her own home. I have never talked with her that she fails to explain what she did and why she did it. She has had to take a lot of heckling, lies being told about her, and so many more things that are not necessary. I have not heard Bebe say anything negative about her opponent.

Let’s keep our county; we have not lost it as some are saying. If we had wanted another form of government, we could have done so many times over. I heard no one complain until the July opponent came along.

Please pray and pray before you make your final decision. We know what we have; we don’t know the other side.

Dorothy Brown, LaFayette

I love the insinuation that if you vote Democrat you are not a true Christian or haven't really prayed enough. Did we watch the same debate? Romney avoided just as many questions if not more.

I don't disagree with everything you say, but I can tell you that John Deffenbaugh is WRONG for Georgia. I usually vote for the person, not the party, and Tom McMahan has been so much better at being clear with the people of our district about representing us in Atlanta. Every time anyone asks Deffenbaugh a question, he just swats it away and makes excuses. I don't trust him.

Tom McMahan has my vote.

Amen sister. We Christian republicans need to pray for our candidates. We know the power of prayer!! We can move mountains!!!! So sayeth the Father!!

There is no need to vote, our Father will hear us and make sure our guy wins the WHITE House. Praise to Jehovah!!

You cannot move a mountain. Jesus was was speaking to a Jewish crowd and He was referring to the coming Kingdom "Thousand-year Reign".

"Name-it-and-claim-it" is for the Jews only and only during their time pre-Paul and after rapture.

Go back and study.

You cannot move a grain of sand with prayer. Christian, Jew, Hindu, whatever, it ain't gonna happen. That was kind of my point. My main point was that you don't need to vote. Christians DO NOT NEED TO VOTE!! Just pray and your dreams will come true. Unless you have no faith...

Ok, I see. The sarcasm is great with this one.

As a Christian, I know my vote counts no more than any other person. We are supposed to pray FOR the government and the people in charge since they are in authority positions. This also brought about big debate before the Revolutionary War since Christians were supposed to respect their authority (King at the time) but they rebelled, so that would make us a rebellious nation in God's eyes wouldn't it?

But yeah, voting changes nothing in the long run. "1000 years from now, and it ain't gonna matter!"
