FLINTSTONE - The Chattanooga Valley Middle School girls basketball team rallied in the second half to post a 33-30 home win over LaFayette on Tuesday.

The Lady Ramblers started out strong, scoring the game's first eight points. CVMS would pull to within two points early in the second quarter, only to see LaFayette stretch the lead back out to 22-15 at halftime after closing out the quarter on a 9-4 run.

But the Lady Eagles would hold LaFayette to just three points in the third quarter to go into the final period down by just a single point, and a transition lay-up by Amaya Harrington with 3:51 to play gave them their first lead of the night, 28-27.

The Lady Ramblers (0-4) would get a pair of open looks for a game-tying shot in the final 15 seconds, but could not get one to fall as the Lady Eagles (2-1) held on for the win.

Harrington had three 3-pointers and finished with 14 points, while Te'a Owens added 13 in the win.

Shayla Ludy had 10 of her 15 points in the first quarter for LaFayette, while Alyssa Estus had seven points.

The nightcap saw a tight contest throughout, but the visitors would win the fourth quarter to claim the victory.

The Eagles (1-2) led 9-7 after one quarter, but found themselves in a 20-20 tie at intermission. The game was knotted up at 29 entering the fourth quarter, but the Ramblers (2-2) outscored the Eagles 8-1 in the final period to score a 37-30 victory.

KaDarrin Ramsey had 18 points and 13 rebounds for the Ramblers with Tyrese Hunter adding 11 points.

Markeion Jones led CVMS with 14 points. Marquie Davis chipped in with 11.

LaFayette will host Rossville on Thursday, while Chattanooga Valley will travel to Gordon Lee.
