A 19-year-old LaFayette woman has been arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and endangering the life of her child in the process.

According to LaFayette Police Department reports:

Lacey Danielle Stoker of West Main Street in LaFayette was pulled over by police at 10:25 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 5, after failing to stop at a stop sign on Henderson Street.

Officer Zackary Simpson stopped the 2007 PT Cruiser that Stoker was driving and could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage from inside the vehicle upon approaching.

Stoker stated twice that she had not been drinking as the officer questioned her, saying that she would take a breathalyzer test, according to the report.

She stated she was going for milk for the small child, who was in the vehicle.

She admitted that her driver’s license was suspended, as of Jan. 9, 2012.

Simpson had Stoker get out of the vehicle and conducted the breathalyzer test, which came back positive.

He was unable to do a field sobriety check since the driver had stopped on a steep hill along Flora Street.

Simpson questioned a passenger and noticed a “cold Bud Ice beer” lying in the passenger floor board that still had condensation on the can.

The passenger stated it wasn’t his and that he did not know who it belonged to. He was then tested for consumption of alcohol, which proved that he had not drank the beer.

Stoker’s mother arrived at the scene and took custody of her grandchild.

She was then arrested and was taken to jail, where two intoxilizer tests were given.

Stoker’s breath registered a 0.118 on the first sample and a 0.113 on the second test. She could only raise her foot two inches during the one-legged-stand portion of the test.

She was charged with DUI, endangering a child, having an open container of alcohol, and disregarding stop signs.

It is her third offense for driving with a suspended license.
