Authorities are continuing their investigation into an armed robbery about 9:10 a.m. today, in which two masked men with guns entered a Ringgold bank, then fled the scene.
The robbery occurred at the Catoosa Teacher Federal Credit Union on Gateway Drive, just off Smitherman Road, near I-75 at exit 350.
According to the Ringgold Police Department, the men backed up their vehicle to the bank and entered with guns drawn.
"The men were covered with masks, hoodies, and gloves," said police chief Dan Bilbrey. "They went in and drew their guns on the employees and patrons before making off with an undisclosed amount of cash."
No shots were fired during the incident and there were no major injuries, he said.
"One of the tellers received medical treatment after sustaining a minor injury," Bilbrey said. "She was roughly handled by one of the men, but the injury wasn't serious or life-threatening."
Employees and patrons who were in the building were able to give a description of the vehicle.
"It was all caught on video, but with the men wearing gloves, hoodies and ski masks, there wasn't too much we could obtain regarding their appearance," Bilbrey said. We've been following what leads we have all day and will continue to do so as the investigation continues.
Other agencies have assisted in the case and were also on the scene and most of the day.
"We are working diligently in conjunction with the Catoosa County Sheriff's Office, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)," Bilbrey said.
