Georgia Northwestern's volleyball team found the win column in one of the toughest places possible on Monday night. The Lady Bobcats needed all five sets, but eventually claimed an 18-25, 25-23, 15-25, 25-23, 15-10 win at in-state rival West Georgia Tech.

“These players earned this,” said GNTC head coach Carrie Powell. “We have a lot of matches in the next couple of weeks and they needed this to get their focus for our schedule.”

Georgia Northwestern dropped their first two dates on the schedule a week prior, falling to non-region foes Bryan College and Crown College. The Lady Bobcats (1-2) travel to Knoxville, Tenn. this Friday to tangle with Johnson University. Powell’s club returns home Monday to host Covenant College at the Rossville Athletic Center. Match time is 7 p.m.

“We have six freshmen starting on this squad,” said Powell. “We have learned a lot in a short amount of time. Our schedule wraps up at the end of October, but the next seven weeks will be incredibly intense. This team has lots to learn and they are learning it under fire.”

Georgia Northwestern competes in the NJCAA’s Region XVII covering the Southeast. For more information on Lady Bobcats volleyball at Georgia Northwestern, contact the Office of Sports Information at (706) 764-3813 or email to dfoley@gntc.edu.
