Farmers’ Market to hold Crafters Day in Walker County on Nov. 14

Battlefield Farmers’ Market will end its fifth season with its second annual Crafters Day on Saturday, Nov. 14, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Walker County Agricultural Center at 10052 U.S. 27 in Rock Spring.

Vendors will exhibit items that are locally grown and locally crafted. Vendors from last year’s event will be returning with exciting additions.

With the holiday season coming up, a large variety of gift ideas will be available, as well as items for holiday meals and home décor. A special event from 10 a.m. to noon will be Kristen Smith with the Walker County and Dade County Cooperative Extension Service con-ducting a class on utilizing fall vegetables and safe preparation of holiday meals.

Concessions will be available during the day. Face painting will be provided by Ridge-land High School Future Farmers of America for the younger ones and for the young at heart.

This will be the last weekend of the 2009 season that fresh locally grown fruits and vege-tables will be available through Battlefield Farmers’ Market. Payment via EBT transactions will be available for eligible items.
