The Arc of Chattooga County, along with Catoosa, Dade and Walker counties, is hosting a northwest Georgia regional meeting at the Civic Center in Summerville on Monday, Dec. 7, at 7 p.m. The keynote speaker will be Patricia D. Nobbie, Ph.D., deputy director of the Georgia Council on Developmental Disabilities. Also speaking will be Dave Zilles, parent advocate, UNLOCK the Waiting Lists.
This meeting will bring to light the problems associated with gaining services for people with developmental disabilities in Georgia and will address the needs and barriers to those services especially for those who have been on the waiting lists.
It is intended for families, caregivers and self-advocates who are applying for or have received Medicaid waivers yet have still not gained the services. It is also for those who are school-aged and will be placed on these lists after they transition from the school system to the local service agencies.
The public is invited to attend.
