Hollywood's spotlight on Ringgold's JJK Security reality show continues to shine brightly. AMC announced the renewal for a second season of “Small Town Security,” the unscripted workplace series that centers on chief Joan Koplan's tight-knit, family-run security and private investigation company.

Executive-produced by Ken Druckerman and Banks Tarver from Left/Right Films, last year's flagship season debuted in July 2012, to mixed reviews, but battled its way to another shot at the big screen. While basically focused on the daily routines of the business, the praise as well as the disdain voiced in reviews lies largely on the oddly compelling relationships of the colorful employees who make up the staff at JJK.

Joel Stillerman, AMC’s lead man of original programming, production and digital content, said there is plenty of bizarre material yet to air.

“‘Small Town Security’ was such a great ride for us in season one,” Stillerman said, “and we are thrilled to be able to continue that into a second season. We have only just begun to get to know the folks at JJK Security, and there are incredibly funny and wonderful stories left to tell.”

“Small Town Security” airs Sundays at 11 p.m. (EST) on AMC.

Chief Joan Koplan, the heart of the staff, said although any negative feedback is naturally disheartening, the majority of the feedback was tremendously encouraging and the entire staff was grateful for the generosity of her fans.

”Everyone's been so good to us,” Koplan said. “We have a lot of visitors who drive up and take photos but a lot of them come in and ask if they can meet us and that just thrills us. We're very humbled. We're so excited that they love us and they love the show, and it's so nice of them to take the time to write or call or stop by and meet us. That's what's it's all about, the fans.”

Stacy Marcoux and Sara Mattos, two fans from California stopped by the JJK office on Thursday, Sept. 27, and said it was “well worth the trip.”

“Small Town Security” has been renewed for eight half-hour episodes in season two and is scheduled to premiere in the second quarter of 2013.
